Ending Sexual Violence in Southern Mexico

HOW THE PROJECT BEGAN

In our previous work, we encountered many young women with ability and the desire to advance their education. However, gaps in transportation, communication, and women’s justice prevented the women from continuing their education. Stories of sexual abuse in these communities are all too common. The local community asked us to collaborate with the Mexican Civic Association to implement eduational programs to end sexual violence and advance women's education.

HOW PROJECT DIGNIDAD CAN MEET THIS GOAL

Project Dignidad, in collaboration with a Mexican Civic Association, has the right and the responsibility to work with school leaders and teachers to implement educational programs to expose and eliminate sexual abuse in schools, homes, religious organizations, professions, and social groups.

Project Dignidad provides the large and strong social support needed to advocate publically and loudly for women who encounter sexual abuse. Previous funding ceated the women's shelter building, Casa Dignidad, now home to 24 young women purusing high school and university education. With your support, we can continue to help these women achieve their degrees and contribute to their communities as nurses, teachers, psychologists, lawyers, and agronomists.
